ABSTRACT: New Visions in Macular Degeneration and Retinal Diseases
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the most common cause of legal blindness in the United States. There are over 10 million people affected by this condition and one third of senior citizens suffer from AMD. Until year 2006 there was no effective treatment for this disease. In recent years there have been significant advances in management of macular degeneration. Additionally, there are several new and innovative therapies in pipeline. We will discuss the clinical findings and advances in diagnosis and management of macular degeneration.
